Woman Arrested for Deadly Stabbing in Freeport

A Hempstead woman has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of a man in Freeport.

According to Nassau County Homicide Squad Detectives, Freeport police responded to a call of a male possibly stabbed in front of 139 Frederick Avenue on May 9. Upon arrival, they located an adult male victim who sustained an apparent puncture wound and administered medical aid. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a physician at 8:30 p.m.

Upon further investigation, detectives determined that Ivory Washington, 46 of 20 Totten Street, stabbed the victim during a domestic incident, causing his death. Officers located Washington and placed her under arrest without incident. She was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation.

Police charged Washington with first-degree manslaughter and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. She will be arraigned once she is released from the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
