
A 35-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting a teenager in Brentwood.
On August 12 at approximately 11 a.m., a 14-year-old female student was exiting Brentwood High School, when she and a 15-year-old female student began exchanging words. The mother of the 15-year-old, Toni Monroe, allegedly struck the 14-year-old multiple times with a metal water bottle. A security guard broke up the altercation and Monroe was arrested in the parking lot a short time later.
The student, whose name is being withheld, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Monroe was charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
She is being held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on August 13 at First District Court, Central Islip.
