A Valley Stream man has been arrested for burglary, assault and other crimes for an incident that took place in Valley Stream.

On January 26 at 9:15 a.m., Jonathan Louissaint broke into a home on Forest Avenue and attacked a 24-year-old male, punching him in the face and striking his hand with a metal bar. Louissaint then went to a nearby 7-Eleven, located at 100 Sunrise Highway, where he hit a 35-year-old male on the hand with a beer can.

Louissaint left the store and attempted to enter multiple occupied vehicles in the area, before entering an unoccupied 2020 Hyundai, which was parked and running on Rockaway Parkway. He then fled, eventually crashing into a 2020 Toyota occupied by a 29-year-old female and a 64-year-old male on New Hyde Park Road in the vicinity of Auburn Street. He also struck a parked car
which then damaged a business sign.

While being placed under arrest at the scene of the accident, Louissaint became combative and hit an officer in the face. The injured officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The two
occupants of the Toyota were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. All other victims declined further medical attention.

Louissaint, 32, is charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree attempted robbery, third-degree grand larceny, first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of third-degree attempted grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
