A Uniondale man has been arrested for assault and resisting arrest following a domestic disturbance.

On September 7 at 9:45 p.m., Nassau County officers from the First Squad responded to a Campus Street residence in Uniondale for a disturbance. They were informed that a verbal argument occurred between Everton Brooks, 28, of 704 Campus Street and a female victim, 22. The argument allegedly escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in Brooks allegedly throwing the victim’s cellphone at her, striking her in the head and then punching her numerous times in the face with a closed fist. The victim, in fear for her life, exited the residence and called 911. Brooks was located and, while police attempted to place him into custody, he allegedly became violent and combative, causing three officers to sustain injuries during the course of the arrest.

Brooks was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.  The injured officers and the victim were also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation of their injuries.

Police charged Brooks with three counts of Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Harassment in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest. He was scheduled to be arraigned on September 8 at First District Court in Hempstead.
