Two Freeport men were arrested after police found a handgun, ammunition and cannabis inside their car.
Officers from the First Precinct conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop in front of 380 Nassau Road on a 2021 Mercedes four-door sedan. During the investigation, police determined the vehicle was unregistered and needed to be impounded. They instructed Iverson Morillo, 21, the driver, and his passenger Christopher Lora, 26, to exit the vehicle. Police searched the vehicle and found a silver and black SCCY CPX-2 9-millimeter handgun, loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition in the center console and a large amount of concentrated cannabis. The two men were placed under arrest without further incident.
Morillo, of 160 Guy Lombardo Boulevard, and Lora, of 63 North Bayview Avenue, were both charged with criminal possession of a weapon, and Morillo is additionally charged with criminal sale of cannabis and criminal possession of cannabis. They were arraigned on June 22 at First District Court in Hempstead.
