Three men were arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop in Roosevelt.
On July 28 at 1:55 a.m., Nassau County police initiated a lawful vehicle traffic stop in the vicinity of Nassau Road and E. Greenwich Avenue for a grey Dodge
Durango that was speeding. During the stop, officers recovered an illegal loaded firearm, metal knuckles, and a white powdery substance believed to be crack cocaine. All three occupants of the vehicle — Edward Tyler Johnson, 30, of 10 Sutton Place in Deer Park; Paul Scott, 34, of 13 Waterford Drive in Wyandanch; and Andre Yates, 36, of 16 Park Center Drive in Deer Park — were arrested without incident.
Johnson was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon: ammunition feeding device, and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Johnson also has an open bench warrant out of Suffolk County.
Scott and Yates were both charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
All three defendants were arraigned on July 29 at First District Court in Hempstead.
