Members of the New York State Police (NYSP) Troop L Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Troop L troopers conducted a traffic stop in Hempstead Village that resulted in an arrest for drug possession.
On January 22 at approximately 1:15 p.m., troopers pulled over a vehicle for violating New York State Vehicle and Traffic Laws. During a lawful probable cause search of the vehicle, troopers recovered approximately 425 grams of marijuana, 11 grams of MDMA, 44 grams of Oxycodone, four grams of ecstasy, drug packaging and preparation materials and approximately $4,500 in cash.
The driver was charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a controlled substance in the Third Degree (a Class B Felony), one count of Controlled Possession of a controlled substance in the Fifth Degree (a Class D Felony), two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of Cannabis in the Third Degree (all Class A misdemeanors).
“These efforts are an ongoing commitment to reducing drug trafficking and criminal activity in our communities through proactive enforcement and interdiction efforts,” a NYSP troop L spokesperson said.
