Suffolk County Police arrested a Sayville teenager for allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old during an altercation at Smith Point Beach in Shirley.
Alexander Murphy was on the outer beach of Smith Point Beach in Shirley when he allegedly stabbed a 17-year-old Selden teenager in the back with a knife during an altercation on August 16 at 6:07 p.m. The victim, who is not being identified because of his age, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Murphy, 18, of 30 Lincoln Ave., was also taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip upon being released from the hospital.
