Detectives from the Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad are investigating a suspicious car fire that happened in New Cassel.
On October 27 at 6:39 p.m., officers responded to a call for a car fire on Sohmer Place. Upon arrival, they observed a 2024 Nissan parked in the street that was on fire. The Westbury Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.
The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature. An investigation at the scene determined that an unknown suspect was seen walking away from the vehicle southbound on Sohmer Place shortly before the fire started. A description of the suspect is unavailable.
The investigation is ongoing.
