Roosevelt Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Nurse

A Roosevelt man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a nurse who was caring for him.

On August 26 at 7:30 p.m., Nassau County officers from the Third Squad responded to the Nassau University Medical Center, located at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, where a registered nurse, 66, was performing her duties to care for Roderick Essix, 62, of 193 W Centennial Avenue. Essix allegedly became combative and punched the nurse with a closed fist to the left side of her face, causing substantial pain and minor bruising.

When officers arrived, Essix was placed into custody without further incident. The nurse was evaluated and treated by hospital staff at the scene.

Police charged Essix with Assault in the Second Degree. He was released on an appearance ticket.
