Rideshare Driver Attacked; Seaford Man Arrested

A Seaford man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a rideshare driver during an argument.

On May 30 at 3:45 a.m., Seventh Precinct Officers responded to Sidney Court for a disturbance. The 41-year-old male victim was working as a Lyft driver when he got into a verbal argument with James Turchi, 46, of 3794 Mill Road. The argument escalated and Turchi allegedly hit the victim’s phone out of his hand, causing damage. He also struck the victim with a bat multiple times on his head and knee. The victim refused medical attention at the scene. Turchi was arrested without incident.

Police charged Turchi with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned on May 30 at First District Court in Hempstead.
