A Queens man was arrested for robbing a gas station in Valley Stream.
On December 3 at 12:00 a.m., Devon Gomes entered the BP Gas Station located at 85 N Central Avenue. Once inside, he removed various items from the shelves and approached the male employee, 21, standing behind the register. Gomes selected lottery tickets that were behind the counter and placed his hand inside his sweatshirt, stating he had a gun, demanding cash from the register and the employee’s cell phone. The employee complied and Gomes tried to flee the scene before being apprehended.
Gomes was arrested without incident. No injuries were reported.
Gomes, 40, of 85-02 134th Street, was charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and possession of a burglar’s tool. He was arraigned on December 3 at First District Court in Hempstead.
