Queens Man Arrested for Allegedly Scamming Woman out of Money

A Queens man was arrested for allegedly scamming a woman out of money for fortune telling services.

for a Grand Larceny that occurred on  July 17 at 2:30 p.m. in Hicksville.

According to Nassau County Second Squad detectives, on July 3, a 68-year-old female victim paid a male $20,000 for fortune telling services. On  July 17,  the victim was receiving further fortune telling services at Anjana Ji, located at 414c South Broadway. She was instructed to provide an additional $42,000 for services and was driven to a bank on Broadway to withdraw the money. The victim was advised she may be being scammed and police were called for assistance. Officers responded and after an investigation, Hemanth Kumar Muneppa, 33, of 10711 120th Street, South Richmond Hill, was arrested in the parking lot without incident.

Kumar Muneppa is charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and two counts of Fortune Telling. He will be arraigned on Friday, July 18 at First District Court in Hempstead.
