Suffolk County Police arrested a Port Jefferson man after multiple 3D-printed firearm parts were discovered in his home.
Sixth Precinct Investigative Unit officers were at the residence of Tyler Schmalenberger on November 14, investigating him for a previous menacing incident, during which he allegedly pointed what appeared to be a handgun at an acquaintance.
During a search of the residence, investigators recovered multiple 3D-printed firearm receivers and 3D-printed parts, including a complete parts kit, two 3D-printed long gun receivers, a magazine, a Glock-style spring kit and AR components.
Schmalenberger, 30, of 1615 Main St., was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. He was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and scheduled for arraignment at a later date.
