Plainview Woman Arrested for Alleged Assault of Officer

Was Stopped after Allegedly Leaving Restaurant without Paying for Meal

A Plainview woman has been arrested for an alleged assault that happened at a Hicksville restaurant.

On May 28 at 3:50 p.m., Nassau County officers responded to Potasia, located at 600 S. Oyster Bay Road, for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers were informed that Ruoqiong Shi, 29, of 333 S. Service Road, left the restaurant without paying for her meal. A short time later, Shi was located nearby. Officers attempted to place her into custody when she became violent and combative, causing an officer to sustain an injury to his arm and leg.

The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital. The officer was also transported to nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Police charged Shi with second-degree assault, theft of services and resisting arrest. She was scheduled to be arraigned on May 29 at First District Court in Hempstead.
