A man and a woman from Pennsylvania were arrested for their involvement in last year’s shooting death of a Florida man near a Bethpage motel.
On April 2, 2024 at 9:41 p.m., officers responded to a call of a male shot in the vicinity of the Extended Stay Hotel, located at 905 South Oyster Bay Road. Upon arrival, they located a male victim in his thirties with gunshot wounds in front of the location. The victim, Jorge Vazquez, 35, of Tampa, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding Nassau County Police paramedics.
On April 30, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., a coordinated effort between the Nassau County Homicide Squad, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Tamaqua Police Department led to the arrest of Sgroilin Santana, 22, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania and Jaslynn Nevaeh Garcia, 19, of Shillington, Pennsylvania. Both subjects are being held as fugitives from justice in Pennsylvania pending extradition to New York.
Both subjects are being charged with second-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.
