Suffolk County police arrested two people for a stabbing that killed one man and injured another man at a party in Huntington Station last year.
On October 27, 2024 at approximately 2 a.m., Second Precinct officers responded to 58 ½ Lowndes Ave. after a 911 caller reported a stabbing at the location. When officers arrived, they found two men who were stabbed.
Justino Alfaro-Avila, 29, of Huntington Station, was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 39-year-old man was treated at a local hospital and released.
On December 14, 2025, following an investigation by Homicide Squad detectives, Gerson Mendoza-Rodriguez, 19, of 106 Underhill Ave., Hicksville, and a 17-year-old male from Huntington Station whose identity is being withheld because of his age, were both charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree and Gang Assault in the First Degree.
Both men are being held overnight at the Third Precinct. Mendoza-Rodriguez will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip and the 17-year-old, who was 15 at the time of the incident, will be arraigned at the Youth Part of First District Court in Central Islip.
