Music Store Employee Arrested for Alleged Theft of Over $1M in Instruments

An East Rockaway man who worked at a Baldwin music store has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $1 million in musical instruments and shipping them out of state.

On May 8 at 4:42 p.m., Manuel Alvarez, 61, of 62 4th Avenue, an employee at Kolstein Music, located at 795 Foxhurst Road, removed assorted items and various musical instruments valued at over $1 million from the store, without permission, to an unknown location in Florida.

After an extensive investigation, Alvarez was located and placed under arrest without incident.

Police charged Alvarez with third-degree burglary, first-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal facilitation. He was arraigned on May 28 at First District Court in Hempstead.
