Multiagency Investigation Results in Major Drug Bust

A Hicksville man was arrested for possession for drugs following an investigation conducted by law enforcement agencies at the county, state and federal levels.

According to Nassau County Narcotics Vice Squad detectives, on August 5 at 4:10 p.m., an investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration New York’s Long Island District Office Task Force, which is comprised of Nassau County Police Department Narcotics/Vice Squad along with law enforcement partners from the Nassau County DA’s Office, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, the Suffolk County Police Department, Freeport Police Department and the NY State Police Department.

This investigation led to the arrest of defendant Anthony Gianatiempo, 34, of 81 Cantiague Lane who was found to be in possession of 59 pills believed to be pressed fentanyl, 47 pills believed to be pressed methamphetamine and 10 glass vials containing a liquid believed to be fentanyl.

During the course of the investigation at Gianatiempo’s residence, detectives came across multiple devices that appeared to be explosives. The Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad responded and removed five devices along with 25 one-pound containers of smokeless gun powder and one eight-pound container of smokeless gun powder. Detectives also recovered 750 grams of a substance believed to be Fentanyl, 190 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine and 200 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Police charged Gianatiempo with five counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the FifthDegree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the First Degree, one count of explosives storage and one count of explosives, licenses and certificates.

He was arraigned on August 6 at First District Court in Hempstead.
