Nassau County officers arrested a Mount Vernon man for grand larceny after using a fake ID to withdraw $6,000 from a person’s bank account.
Dennis Magnotta entered the Island Federal Credit Union at 85 East Old County Road in Hicksville on October 22 at about 3:50 p.m. He signed and deposited a fraudulent check into a member’s account and gave the bank a fake New Jersey driver’s license, identifying himself as the account holder. He withdrew $3,000 from the victim’s checking account and another $3,000 from the savings account.
After conducting an investigation, Nassau police identified and found Manotta. He was arrested and brought back to Nassau County without incident.
Magnotta, 68, of 376 Hayward Avenue, was charged with third-degree grand larceny, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, first-degree identity theft, and unlawful possession of personal identification. He is scheduled to be arraigned on February 12 at First District Court.
