A Mineola man was arrested for an assault that occurred in Westbury.
On December 16 at 7:30 p.m., Nassau County officers from the Third Squad responded to a Cross Street residence for a disturbance. Mauro Alas Guerra was involved in a verbal argument with a female victim, 45 and male victim, 15. The argument escalated and Alas Guerra broke a window to enter the home. A physical altercation occurred, resulting in Alas Guerra striking both victims.
Upon arrival, officers conducted an investigation. They located Alas Guerra and placed him into custody. He was transported to a local area hospital for an evaluation. An officer sustained an injury at the hospital when Alas Guerra became violent and combative.
Alas Guerra, 45, of 385 Willis Avenue, was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree burglary, third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree criminal mischief. He was scheduled to be arraigned on December 17 at First District Court in Hempstead.
