
A Mineola man was arrested for allegedly destroying two religious statues during a church service.
On June 15 at 5:02 p.m., a church service was being held at the Corpus Christi Church, located at 155 Garfield Avenue in Mineola, when Aldo Hernandez, 26, of 88 Colonial Avenue, entered the church where he allegedly became irate and began causing a disturbance. The defendant then approached the altar and allegedly proceeded to push over and break two religious statues, causing approximately $10,000 worth of damage. Hernandez was
placed under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported.
Police charged Hernandez with second-degree criminal mischief. He was scheduled to be arraigned on June 16 at First District Court in Hempstead.
