New York State Troopers were dispatched to the Shinnecock Reservation in the Town of Southampton for reports of an altercation.
On July 22, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a victim was found to have minor injuries to his face after being struck by a suspect, later identified as Arnay Terry, age 49, of Southampton. Terry fled the residence on foot and was later found lying on the ground near the home in thick shrubbery with a firearm near him. Troopers took Terry into custody.
Terry was charged with second-degree assault, with intention to cause physical injury with a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment, all Class D felonies; second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, loaded firearm, a Class C felony; and second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, all Class A misdemeanor.
