Man Arrested for Shoplifting from Valley Stream Store

A Queens man with an active arrest warrant with the NYPD and a pending warrant of removal from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was arrested for shoplifting from a Valley Stream store.

On May 17 at 3:22 p.m., Kelvin Betancourt Guerrero, 23, of 138-05 Jamaica Avenue, entered Walmart, located at 77 Green Acres Mall. He allegedly hid merchandise inside a bag and proceeded to leave the store without paying. Loss Prevention confronted Betancourt Guerrero and responding officers placed him under arrest without incident. Police also learned the moped that Betancourt Guerrero operated had a stolen license plate and he was riding the moped with a suspended license.

Betancourt Guerrero has active New York City Arrest Warrants and an outstanding Warrant of Removal pending with ICE.

Police charged Betancourt Gierrero with petit larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and multiple Vehicle and Traffic violations. He was released on an Appearance Ticket and taken into custody by ICE.
