Suffolk County Police arrested a homeless man for allegedly robbing a convenience store and allegedly attempting to rob two other businesses during a 24-hour period, all at gunpoint.
Following an investigation by Major Case Unit, Second Squad and Sixth Squad detectives, Michael Perko, 52, was charged with Robbery in the First Degree and two counts of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree for the following incidents:
- Attempted robbery at BP Gas, located at 1680 North Ocean Ave. in Holtsville, on November 11 at 4:02 a.m.
- Attempted robbery at Akshan Wine and Liquor, located at 1100 Waverly Ave. in Holtsville, on November 11 at 7:52 p.m.
- Robbery at 7-Eleven, located at 901 East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, on November 12 at approximately 4:10 a.m. Cash was stolen.
An employee at Akshan Wine and Liquor suffered a minor injury during a physical altercation with Perko.
Perko was scheduled to be arraigned on November 13 at First District Court in Central Islip.
