Man Arrested For Drug Possession in Uniondale

Nassau County officers arrested a Uniondale man on Nassau Road.

On March 24 at approximately 3:48 a.m., Nassau County officers saw a man, Sergio Espinoza, 20, of 577 Greenwich Street, wearing a black facemask walking south on Nassau Road near the intersection of Van Buren Street. 

When officers approached Espinoza, he started running north on Nassau Road. As Espinoza fled, he threw his jacket, a fanny pack, and a switchblade onto the ground. Officers apprehended him after a short foot pursuit. No one was injured. 

Following the investigation, officers found a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and two white oval pills believed to be Oxycodone from Espinoza’s fanny pack. 

Espinoza has been charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree
  • Violating the Nassau County Title 90-Mask Transparency Law

He was arraigned on March 24 at First District Court.
