A Lindenhurst man was indicted for allegedly stabbing a Central Islip man multiple times in the head and body at an apartment complex.
On February 17 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Tesfa Tucker allegedly struck the 27-year-old victim multiple times in the head and body with a large knife with a metal knuckle handle at an apartment complex in Lindenhurst. A witness allegedly heard Tucker yelling at the victim during the assault while another witness allegedly saw Tucker strike the victim multiple times in the head.
The victim was rushed by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital for injuries she sustained which included multiple skull fractures, lacerations about his head and neck area, and two severed fingers.
Following Tucker’s arrest, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his apartment and allegedly recovered a large knife with metal knuckles that had red staining consistent with blood.
On March 3, Tucker, 42, was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice John B. Collins, for one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class B violent felony; two Counts of Assault in the First Degree, both Class B violent felonies; and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a Class C felony.
Collins ordered Tucker to be remanded during the pendency of the case. Tucker is due back in court on April 16 and faces 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count.
“This was a brutal and dangerous outbreak of violence,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “The defendant’s alleged anger and lack of self-control left the victim in a pool of blood fighting for his life. Our office is committed to pursuing justice for this victim and ensuring that those who commit such vicious acts of violence are held fully accountable.”
