Levittown Man Arrested for Assault, Weapons Possession

A Levittown man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing another man during an argument.

On January 4 at 3:45 p.m., Nassau County officers from the Eighth Squad responded to a disturbance on Hempstead Turnpike in the vicinity of Berger Avenue in Levittown. Officers determined that a 59-year-old
male victim, while seated in his vehicle, was involved in an argument with Richard Avolin, who was walking by.

Avolin kicked the victim’s door, then produced a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen when the victim exited his vehicle. Avolin then fled from the scene on foot. The victim was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

After a thorough investigation, detectives located Avolin, 36, of 48 Longfellow Avenue. He was arrested without incident at his residence. He was charged with first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal
possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal mischief . He was scheduled to be arraigned on January 7 at First District Court in Hempstead.
