Islip Terrace Man Indicted for Alleged Drug Possession with Children Present

Charged, Along with His Girlfriend, for Endangering Welfare of a Child

An Islip Terrace man has been indicted for allegedly possessing large amounts of fentanyl and cocaine in front of three children. Along with his girlfriend, he was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

On May 28, members of the Suffolk County Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant at Quon Williams and Keirsten Escobar’s Islip Terrace residence. When they approached the residence, police reported that they heard the breaking of  glass coming from the rear of the home.

Once inside the home, they found Williams in his one-year-old child’s bedroom bleeding from his  hand. The child’s bedroom window appeared to have just been shattered. In the backyard, outside and below the broken bedroom window, law enforcement allegedly discovered a kilo press, which is an instrument designed to mold large quantities of powdered narcotics into the shape of a brick to facilitate resale and distribution. Allegedly discovered inside the kilo press was over eight ounces of fentanyl, enough to kill approximately 113,410 people. Police also allegedly found a kilogram of cocaine inside Williams’ bedroom and his fingerprints were allegedly recovered from  the bag that held the cocaine. In addition, approximately $14,000 in cash, drug paraphernalia,  including scales and packaging, and hypodermic needles were allegedly recovered during the  execution of the warrant.

All the items were allegedly discovered in the home that housed three children ages 1, 5 and 10  years old at the time of the execution of the search warrant.

On June 16, Williams, 39, was arraigned on the indictment before, before Acting County Court  Judge James McDonaugh for the following charges contained in the indictment:

  • two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, both A-I  felonies
  • two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, both Class B felonies
  • one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class E felony
  • two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, both Class A misdemeanors
  • three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all Class A misdemeanors

McDonaugh ordered Williams held on $1,000,000 cash, $2,000,000 bond or $10,000,000  partially secured bond during the pendency of the case. Williams is due back in court on July 15, and faces 30 years in prison if convicted on the top count.

Escobar’s case is pending. She is due in court on June 24, to be arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei, for three counts Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all Class A misdemeanors.

“These allegations highlight a deeply troubling situation where substantial quantities of deadly  narcotics were allegedly found in a home where three young children lived,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “We will continue working with law enforcement to investigate these  allegations thoroughly while ensuring the safety and welfare of the children involved.”
