An Island Park man was arrested for allegedly harassing a food delivery driver who said he was praying after making a delivery. Aggravated Harassment that occurred on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 6:00 pm in Island Park.
On December 3 at 6 p.m., the male victim, 18, was delivering food to an Island Park residence. After making the delivery, he realized it was time to pray. He removed a prayer mat from his vehicle, placed it on the ground and knelt on it.
As the victim prayed, a neighboring resident, Thomas McGarry, allegedly began to yell at the victim and directed derogatory terms towards him. The victim explained he was praying and McGarry allegedly made a violent threat. Police were notified and after a thorough investigation, McGarry, 67, was arrested.
Police charged McGarry with Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree. He was issued an Appearance Ticket and scheduled to appear in First District Court on December 24.
