Island Park Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Code Enforcement Agent

An Island Park man has been arrested by Nassau County Fourth Squad officers for allegedly assaulting a village code enforcement agent.

On March 6 at 3:19 p.m., officers responded to 127 Long Beach Road for an assault on a Village of Island Park Code Enforcement Agent. When police arrived,they saw Matthew Sullivan, 37, of 77 Waterford Road, allegedly being involved in an argument with the agent over a summons. As the argument escalated, Sullivan got into his vehicle and allegedly intentionally struck the 25-year-old male agent with his vehicle.

Sullivan was placed under arrest without incident. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

Sullivan was charged with second-degree assault. He was scheduled to be arraigned on March 7 at First District Court in Hempstead.
