Huntington Sta. Man Indicted for Shooting at House Party

Allegedly Shot, Seriously Injured 17-Year-Old

A Huntington Station man has been indicted for allegedly shooting and seriously injuring a 17-year-old at a party outside of a West Babylon residence.

On August 15 at approximately 10:15 p.m., Savion Jones allegedly fired upon a 17-year-old victim outside a West Babylon residence during a house party. The victim suffered three gunshot wounds, including one that struck the victim’s femoral artery and vein. Suffolk County Police Officers quickly responded to the scene and applied a life-saving  tourniquet on the victim, who was thereafter transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. After investigation, and upon a review of surveillance video footage, police identified Jones as the  alleged shooter.

Jones was arraigned on September 2 on the indictment before Acting Supreme Court  Justice Richard I. Horowitz for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and  Assault in the First Degree — both Class B violent felonies — and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, both Class C violent felonies.

Horowitz ordered Jones held on $1,000,000 cash, $2,000,000 bond or $5,000,000 secured bond during the pendency of the case. Jones is due back in court on October 6 and faces 25  years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision if convicted on the top count.

“Thanks to the quick action of our Suffolk County police officers in applying a tourniquet, this  child was not another murder victim,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “We will use every tool  at our disposal to investigate and prosecute any acts of violence in order to protect our community  from this conduct.”
