Homeless Man Arrested for String of Burglaries

A homeless man has been arrested for allegedly carrying out multiple burglaries that occurred throughout Nassau County.

On October 30 at 11:58 a.m., Joseph Borrello, 52, was responsible for allegedly unlawfully entering numerous establishments by breaking the glass before entering and taking money and various items.

After an extensive investigation, Nassau County detectives from the Eighth Squad located Borrello and placed him under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported.

Borrello allegedly burglarized the following establishments on the following dates:

  • October 6: The Corner Store – Located at 260 Rockaway Parkway, Valley Stream
  • October 16: Clinton Grocery – located at 89 Clinton Street, Hempstead
  • October 21: The Corner Store – Located at 260 Rockaway Parkway, Valley Stream
  • October 22: David’s Express Barber Shop – 1 Anchor Ave., Oceanside
  • October 24: Kawa Sushi – located at 630 Broadway, Massapequa
  • October 24: Mario’s Pizzeria – located at 624 Broadway, Massapequa
  • October 24: Pit Stop Gas Station – located at 582 Broadway, Massapequa
  • October 27: Munsey Park Bagel – located at 1661 Northern Blvd., Manhasset
  • October 28: Villa Deli – located at 337 Wantagh Ave., Levittown
  • October 28: That Pizza Place – located at 303 Wantagh Ave., Levittown
  • October 30: Beyond Bagels – located at 523 N. Broadway, Jericho

Police charged Borrello with eleven counts of Burglary in the Third Degree, six counts of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, four counts of Petit Larceny, three counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned on October 31 at First District Court in Hempstead.
