Homeless Man Arrested for Forcible Touching

Was Also in Possession of Stolen Credit Cards

The First Squad reports on the arrest of a male that occurred on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 4:24 PM in Uniondale for Forcible Touching.

A homeless man has been arrested for forcibly touching a woman inside a Merrick supermarket three months ago.

Delano Brathwaite was at the Stop and Shop located at 2160 Merrick Mall on July 8. While inside the store, Brathwaite forcibly touched a 36-year-old female victim before fleeing the store in an unknown direction. On October 14 at 4:24 p.m., Brathwaite, 27, was located in Uniondale and placed under arrest without further incident. He was also found to be in possession of several credit cards that did not belong to him.

Brathwaite, 27, is charged with five counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and forcible touching. He was arraigned on October 15 at First District Court in Hempstead.

The investigation is ongoing.
