A homeless man has been arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise from an East Meadow store.
On July 9 at 11:30 a.m., Nassau County police officers from the Third Precinct responded to a disturbance at a Walmart, located at 2465 Hempstead Turnpike. Upon arrival, they were informed by loss prevention agents that an unknown male subject had selected and concealed numerous cans of electronic duster before passing all points of purchase and leaving the store without paying.
Subsequent to the investigation, officers located Michael Woodsby, 45, and found him in possession of the aforementioned items. Officers placed him under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported. It was also determined that Woodsby violated a trespass ban which prohibits him from entering all locations.
Police charged Woodsby with third-degree burglary, unlawfully possessing noxious matter and inhalation of hazardous vapors. He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 10 at First District Court in Hempstead.
