A Hicksville man has been arrested for stealing a vehicle from an auto body shop.
Sometime between November 8 at 7 p.m. and November 9 at 11:21 a.m., a burglary occurred at Precision Auto Body, located at 16 Jerusalem Avenue in Hicksville. The suspect, Brayan Galiono Hernandez, broke down an exterior security fence and entered through an unlocked garage door. He then drove off in a red 1995 Mercedes Benz from the scene and fled in an unknown direction.
It was determined Galiono Hernandez was involved in multiple vehicular accidents while driving the car in the vicinity of 1st Street and Frevert Place. He was confronted by a male witness, 35, when he struck the male multiple times in the head with a bottle, causing a large laceration. Galiono Hernandez fled on foot and entered a fenced residence on 5th Avenue, which was actively under construction. The foreman notified officers Galiono Hernandez was not an employee and was hiding in the house. While he was leaving the house, he started swinging a four-foot level at one of the officers. The officer deployed his Electronic Control Device (ECD) and placed Galiono Hernandez under arrest. Galiono Hernandez was determined to be intoxicated.
The male victim who was struck in the head was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation. Galiono Hernandez was also transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Galiono Hernandez, 19, of 10 Gerald Avenue, was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree grand larceny, for the initial incident at 16 Jerusalem Avenue. He was also charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree assault, menacing a police officer, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, attempted assault on a police officer, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, DWI, leaving the scene of an incident and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned on November 10 at First District Court in Hempstead.
