Hempstead Woman Arrested for Assault

A 39-year-old Hempstead woman was arrested for an assault that occurred in Bethpage.

On July 16 at 8:00 a.m., Nassau County patrol units responded to a Maple Avenue home for an alleged disturbance. Yvena Michel, 39, allegedly became agitated and uncooperative. She then made a threat and officers began to detain her. While detaining her, Michel allegedly became combative and injured the left arm of one of the officers. She was then placed into custody.

Police charged Michel with Assault in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Petit Larceny, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree.

Michel is scheduled to be arraigned on July 17 at First District Court, Hempstead.
