
A Hempstead man was arrested for the shooting death of another man over the weekend.
On March 1 at 12:22 p.m., Hempstead Police responded to the intersection of West Graham Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard for the report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, officers found Jefferson J. Mancia-Fernandez, 19 of Hempstead with gunshot wounds and administered medical aid. Mancia-Fernandez was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a physician.
On March 3 at 6:30 a.m., police arrested Jeremias Ferrufino-Rodriguez, 18, of 190 West Marshall Street, for the shooting. He was charged with second-degree murder 2nd degree and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned later that day at First District Court in Hempstead.
