Hempstead Man Arrested for Allegedly Fraudulently Obtaining Loan

A Hempstead man was arrested for grand larceny after he allegedly obtained a loan through fraudulent means.

On April 17 at 2 pm., a man entered Island Federal Credit Union located at 85 East Old Country Road and allegedly fraudulently obtained a loan in the amount of $36,524.63 with fraudulent paystubs and a counterfeit New York State Department of Motor Vehicle driver’s license. He then allegedly purchased a 2022 blue BMW sedan and failed to make the required payments on the loan. The bank reported the auto stolen.

A short time later ,the Brookville Police Department recovered the vehicle and it was impounded. On August 13, after a thorough investigation, Alexander Carlton, 40, of 66 Henry Street responded to the Nassau County Eighth Precinct Station House and attempted to get his vehicle back, but instead he was arrested by detectives without incident.

Police charged Carlton with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Third Degree. He was arraigned on August 14 at First District Court in Hempstead.
