A Hempstead man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Nassau County police officer while in custody.
On November 22 at 10:50 p.m., Jocelain Guillaume, 40, was placed into custody in Baldwin for two open Nassau County Bench Warrants. While detectives transported Guillaume to the precinct, he allegedly made multiple threats towards them.
At the First Precinct, Guillaume allegedly became combative and violent, and a struggle ensued. Prior to being subdued, an officer was struck in the face by the defendant, and his necklace was broken.
Police charged Guillaume with Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on November 23 at First District Court in Hempstead.
