The Suffolk County Police Department and the Gilgo Beach Homicide Task Force are asking for the public’s help in identifying one of the victims of the Gilgo Beach murders
known as “Asian Doe.”
On April 4th, 2011, skeletal remains were recovered on Ocean Parkway at Gilgo Beach. The victim was determined to be a biological male of Asian descent – likely from Southern China (Han Chinese South), approximately 17 to 23 years old at the time of death, and approximately 5’3″ to 5’9″ tall.
“Asian Doe” died as a result of blunt force trauma. The investigation revealed the victim’s death occurred during or prior to 2006. Their remains were on Ocean Parkway for at least five years before being discovered in 2011.
For the first time, the following information has been released: descriptions of the clothing the victim was wearing at the time of death and pictures of the clothing labels. Although a biological male, “Asian Doe” was wearing exclusively women’s clothing.
The victim wore a Chrysantheme blue, ribbed, short-sleeve shirt with crew neck; a Rafaella brand shirt; a Bill Blass pants and a Bill Blass bra.
“‘Asian Doe’ may have been working as a sex worker at the time of their disappearance prior to 2006,” Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney told reporters during a press conference that took place on September 16. “We believe they spent some time in New York City prior to their death.”
Authorities have distributed flyers in English, Bahasan (Indonesia), Mandarin, Cantonese and Thai.
Crimestoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to identification. Anyone with information regarding this case or the identification of the victim is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or via email or the mobile app on the flyer. Translation services are available.
