Great Neck Man Arrested for Gun Possession, Impersonating Federal Officer

A Great Neck man has been arrested on charges of illegal possession of a handgun and impersonating a federal officer.

On October 27 at 12:00 p.m., Seth Newman was operating a black 2021 Dodge Charger in the vicinity of Marcus Avenue and New Hyde Park Road. While operating the vehicle, he activated amber flashing lights and a siren.  Newman was observed with what appeared to be a black handgun located near his hip and identified himself as a Homeland Security Officer.  A short time later, Newman was located in the parking lot of King Kullen, located at 2305 Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park, and placed under arrest without incident.

Newman, 21, of 44 Somerset Drive, was charged with second-degree criminal Impersonation and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable on November 7 at First District Court in Hempstead.
