
A Freeport woman was arrested for allegedly starting a fire inside a residence during a dispute with her landlord.
According to Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad detectives, on July 26 at 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Agnes Avenue for a landlord-tenant dispute. When they arrived, they discovered that Bridget Hay, 54, allegedly set a fire in front of the victim’s bedroom, causing damage to the floor. A male victim extinguished the fire and called police.
Hay was placed into police custody without incident. Two male victims, ages 32 and 47, were in the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
Police charged Hay with Arson in the Second Degree and was scheduled to be arraigned on July 27 at First District Court in Hempstead.
