A Freeport man was arrested after Nassau County police officers after a handgun was found at his residence.
On December 17 at 2:16 a.m., officers responded to the parking lot of a commercial business, located at 525 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre, for possible shots fired. Responding officers were informed that a male subject had removed a gun from his jacket pocket and fired it into the air before fleeing the scene. Upon investigation, shell casings were recovered from the ground. No injuries were reported.
Subsequent to the investigation, Felix Hernandez Morales, 26, of 27 Harrison Avenue, was located at his residence on December 17 at 4:45 p.m. and placed into custody for the above incident. During the investigation, officers recovered a black Beretta APX nine-millimeter handgun.
Hernandez Morales was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was scheduled to be arraigned on December 18 at First District Court in Hempstead.
