4 Indicted for Murders, Dismemberment of Yonkers Couple

Four people from Amityville were indicted for their alleged involvement in the murders and dismemeberment of a Yonkers couple back in February.

On February 27, Malcolm “Craig” Brown and Donna Conneely, were fatally stabbed upon entering a residence in Amityville. Brown suffered fatal stab wounds to the neck and torso, while Conneely sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck and back.

Jeffrey Mackey, Alexis Nieves and Steven Brown purportedly conspired to kill the victims before they arrived at their home. Subsequently, the defendants allegedly dismembered the victims’ bodies in the bathroom and disposed of the remains in various locations, including Southards Pond Park, Bethpage State Park, and a wooded area in West Babylon.

On February 29, 2024, law enforcement started a comprehensive investigation and uncovered additional evidence, including cutting instruments and blood traces, at the home where the defendants had been staying.

Four people were arraigned on the indictment on April 26. Mackey was remanded, while Nieves was held on $1 million cash, $10 million bond or $10 million partially secured bond. Brown and Wallace are scheduled for further court appearances.

Mackey, 36, faced charges including two counts of second-degree murder, one count of second-degree conspiracy, one count of first-degree robbery, one count of hindering prosecution, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and oconcealment of a human corpse. He was ordered to be remanded during the pendency of the case.

Nieves, 33, was indicted for one count of second-degree murder, one count of second-degree conspiracy, one count of hindering prosecution, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and one count of concealment of a human corpse. Nieves was held on $1 million cash, $10 million bond or $10 million partially secured bond.

Brown, 44, faces one count of of second-degree conspiracy, one count of first-degree robbery, one count of hindering prosecution, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and one count of  concealment of a human corpse. He is scheduled to appear back in court at a later date.

Amanda Wallace, 40, is indicted for one count of first-degree robbery, one count of hindering prosecution, one count of tampering with physical evidence and one count of concealment of a human corpse. Bail was set for Wallace because of her petit larceny arrest in March. She is due back in court at a later date.

“I appreciate the diligent work of the Suffolk County Police Department and my prosecutors in advancing this investigation to the point where we can pursue charges against those believed to be responsible for these heinous crimes,” Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said. “Justice must prevail, and it’s imperative that law enforcement uphold their duties without bias. Charges are only laid when evidence is clear and compelling. I commend the team for their steadfast commitment.”
