A Fort Salonga man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another man during a fight in Oyster Bay Cove.
On March 22 at 5:00 p.m., Nassau County officers from the Second Squad responded to an assault in front of a Split Rock Road residence. Upon arrival, officers were informed that Matthew Nickerson, 20, of 27 Meadow Glen Road, was allegedly involved in an altercation with a male victim, 24. Nickerson allegedly displayed a sharp object and stabbed the victim numerous times, causing multiple lacerations before fleeing the scene.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. A short time later, Nickerson was located and arrested without incident.
Police charged Nickerson with first-degree assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned on March 23 in First District Court in Hempstead.
