An Elmont man with an outstanding warrant was arrested for resisting arrest.

On January 11 at 3:30 p.m., Nassau County officers from the Fifth Squad were on routine patrol, when they recognized Hurguens Jasmin, 28, of 269 S. King Street, walking on Dutch Broadway in the vicinity of Opal Street in Elmont, to have an active Nassau County arrest warrant. Officers approached Jasmin, who immediately became violent and combative.

Jasmin punched one officer in the face numerous times and attempted to gouge out another officer’s eye while attempting to flee the scene. He was placed under arrest and transported to a local area hospital for evaluation. The injured officers were also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Jasmin was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and having an active Nassau County warrant. Further investigation revealed he also has an open Fifth Precinct case for two counts of criminal contempt. He was scheduled to be arraigned on January 12 at First District Court in Hempstead.
