
Had Multiple Open Warrants for Same Charges, Among Others
An Elmont man has been arrested for assault and resisting arrest. The defendant also had a number of open warrants for assault, resisting arrest and other charges.
On March 20 at 3:50 p.m., Nassau County officers from the Fifth Squad observed Hurguens Jasmin walking on South King Street and were aware of him having several open warrants for his arrest. As officers approached Jasmin, he attempted to flee on foot, running through the backyard of multiple residences and destroying a fence in the process. As officers attempted to place him under arrest, he resisted and became combative, causing injuries to three officers. A black billy club was recovered from the defendant’s waistband. Jasmin and the three injured officers were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Jasmin, 29, of 269 South King Street, was charged with three counts of second-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was scheduled to be arraigned on March 21 at First District Court in Hempstead.
Jasmin has open warrants for three counts of second-degree assault, two counts of resisting arrest, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
