Randell Hollman Was 14 Years Old When He Raped, Slashed, and Stabbed a Woman in Front of Her Young Child

Today the Court announced that Randell Hollman, 16, of

A 16-year-old from East Patchogue was sentenced to three to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to burglary, rape, and other related charges, after burglarizing a Mastic
Beach home and attacking a woman in front of her four-year-old child.

On April 19, 2022 at approximately 3:15 p.m., Randell Hollman, who was 14 at the time, and an accomplice were looking to break into a home in Mastic Beach. When one of the residents left, they entered the home and looked around the premises for items to steal. They came to a bedroom door, which was locked. They kicked the door in and saw a 23-year-old woman with her four-year-old child. While his accomplice was looking for property to steal, Hollman sexually assaulted the woman and slashed across her head and forehead with a switchblade. He then stabbed the victim in her chest and twisted the blade inside of her.

The victim was treated at a local hospital, where she received medical treatment including stitches and staples to her head, face, and chest area.

On December 19, 2023, Hollman pleaded guilty to first-degree rape, first-degree assault and first-degree burglary — all Class B violent felonies — and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor. On March 5, he was sentenced to three to nine years in prison. In addition, he must register as a sex offender.

“This is a crime whose brutality shocks the conscience,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “We thank the court for balancing the defendant’s age with the seriousness of the offense. The impact on the victims cannot be lost, and my office will always do everything in our power to seek accountability and justice, no matter what age a defendant is.”
