Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney will hold a press conference inside the H. Lee Dennison Building today at 2 p.m. to announce a major development in a decades-old murder and sexual assault investigation.
As previously reported, Tierney has announced breaks in other cold cases, including the Gilgo Beach murder cases. Some other cases included the February arrest of a former Long Islander for the 2003 murder of an 88-year-old woman. He also sought the public’s help in identifying the victims of three cold case murders.
The DA’s Office has also launched a website listing all the unresolved cold cases.
During the press conference, Tierney will reveal how forensic technology and the work of the Cold Case Task Force have brought resolution to a long-unsolved case that has deeply affected the Suffolk County community. He will be joined by the family’s victim, County Executive Ed Romaine, Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina and members of the Cold Case Task Force.
